July 2011
Our family began renovation on downtown Richmond’s historic D.M. Bright Building, formerly known as Irene’s dress shop. We were eager to deliver a unique new coffee experience and, even more so, a human experience like no other.
August 2011
We set out to track down the best coffee we could find and landed on Sunergos Coffee, a local micro-roastery in Louisville, KY. Sunergos specializes in roasting handcrafted batches of some of the best coffees from around the world. With a shared passion for exceptional cup quality and sustainable buying practices, a perfect partnership began.

The Richmond Register ran a front page article on the Purdy’s restoration project of downtown Richmond’s oldest listed building, creating a buzz about what was going inside.

Purdy's Coffee Co. officially opened the doors to the community of Richmond, Kentucky!
MARCH 2019
Purdy’s Coffee Co. opened their doors to their second location with a drive-thru!
